Preserving Southern and Community Cookbook Recipes Before They're Lost

In memory of Frances Potter who was a familiar and friendly face in the community, retiring after many years of service in the food industry. Her career spanned early years at the Florida Cafe, Kwik Burger, and Johnny’s Seafood, eventually culminating in her retirement from the Navy Exchange. Wherever she worked, she brought her signature quick wit; she had a rare gift for making people smile, and many describe her as a genuine joy to be around.

Frances loved cooking and innovating food for her family and for the patrons of where she worked. She collected and enjoyed cook books, preferring organizational and institutional cookbooks put out by local churches, the VFW, DAR, etc. These books and the recipes within often represent "Mom's" cooking. Mom's of the local community that have created their own special flavors and in some cases are the generational recipes of families.

The Wikieatery will have a specialized focus on sharing the recipes from her collection, but will also have a library of recipes from every day life.  We hope you find the unique collection tastefully preserved before the old books disappear forever.  All links on this site are affiliate in some way and may provide this site income to continue operations.
